Then, Kevin discovers about two burglars, Harry and Marv , about to rob his house on Christmas Eve. But this all focuses on the wrong bit of the movie traumatizing him. When Kevin looks back at his escapades with the Wet Bandits he’ll remember his resourcefulness and heroism, and how he saved Christmas and made friends with Old Man Marley. When he looks back at the events immediately before, he’ll remember being eight-years-old and completely fucking humiliated in front of his extended family.
" 'Home Alone' is the Charles' post-Christmas gift for kids, parents and hipsters". For one sequence, the movie becomes a cat-and-mouse cartoon and a lampoon of home-invasion thrillers. In 2017, about four million people (11.6% of Poland's population) were watching it on Christmas Eve and in 2018 again in Christmas Eve the film recorded the highest viewership with 4.51 million viewers. Home Alone was the number-one film at the box office for 12 consecutive weeks, from its release weekend of November 16–18, 1990 through the weekend of February 1–3, 1991. It was removed from the top spot when Sleeping with the Enemy opened with $13 million. It remained in the top ten until the weekend of April 26, well past Easter weekend.
Movie Legends: Was Home Alone Originally Masterminded by Uncle Frank?
Peter and the rest of the McCallisters went to Rob's penthouse apartment while Kate tried to get a flight home to Kevin. Some even believe that Uncle Frank hired the Wet Bandits to take care of Kevin in the home invasion and that him being left behind was all part of his elaborate plan. His greed and visibly prominent twisted personality in the movies, make this theory very palpable and probable, once gone into detail. There’s no doubt that Uncle Frank is a very unpleasant character in both Home Alone and Home Alone 2, and he comes across as a man that is both incredibly selfish and very thoughtless. But what, this theory asks, if he is really a criminal mastermind?

Pesci said in the People interview, "I did sustain serious burns to the top of my head during the scene where Harry's hat is set on fire." To be fair, if they did keep the deleted scene from Home Alone in the original cut, this scene from the sequel might have felt like a little more of a payback for the antics of the first film. Either way, Uncle Frank is the worst and we hope that after two Christmases of Kevin being lost, the entire McCallister family learned to appreciate everyone being safe and sound at the holidays. Though judging by how Kevin ended up as an adult, we highly doubt it. There is also a pretty well-developed fan theory that Jigsaw, the booby-trap-loving villain of the Saw movies, is a grown-up version of Kevin, taking his incredible ability to inflict pain on people to new lengths. Both Culkin and Saw director James Wan have laughed about the idea.
Did they remodel the Home Alone house?
The conceit of the picture is that young Kevin McCallister is accidentally left behind when his large, extended family all travel to visit relatives in France for Christmas. Kevin, just the night before, wished that he could be "home alone," so the young kid thought that his wish had come true. As a kid, Home Alone wasn’t just the funniest Christmas movie I had ever seen, it was also the scariest.
Telling your own kids off for misbehaving is one thing, and it’s not what parenting experts advise anyway, favoring talking through how they should have behaved rather than focusing on what they actually did. But telling someone else’s kid off, particularly in their own house, in a manner dripping with contempt and disdain? Kevin isn’t blameless in the kitchen situation — a plain cheese pizza from a major chain is a ridiculous thing to order. Kevin’s cousin Fuller (played by Macaulay Culkin’s younger brother, future Succession star Kieran Culkin) similarly knows that he wets the bed but goes hog wild on the Pepsi anyway. Kevin is surrounded by people actively making life worse for him, yet when he responds, he’s insulted and embarrassed with none of that taken into account. The sad thing about this alleged legend is that even if it had a shred of credibility, it would change the entire storyline of the movie and demote Culkin and Pesci to lesser roles.
How much is it to rent out the Home Alone house?
He enjoys making aggressively difficult puns, drinking on trains and pretending to be smarter than he is. He would like to own a boat one day but accepts that he probably won't. The Wet Bandits might have saved Kevin’s life that Christmas Eve. Stealing people’s belongings is a really shitty thing to do, but a VCR can be replaced.

In other words, given the way the movie turned out, why would we even care who masterminded the plot? Would the tone of the movie change if after the family arrived home Uncle Frank was led away in handcuffs? That tidbit would likely have changed the Christmas reunion theme and turned it from heartwarming to a Christmas SVU special. During his extended family's stay, Rob and his wife Georgette decorated a Christmas tree with their son Steffan assisting them while the other McCallisters watched a French dub of "It's a Wonderful Life". Georgette later called out Frank McCallister for serving a shrimp appetizer, saying that they were to be served later.
Casting
A sixth film was released digitally on Disney+ on November 12, 2021, titled Home Sweet Home Alone. Devin Ratray, who played Buzz McCallister in the first two films, reprised his role in the film. It was praised for its quotable phrases, morals, traps, and main character. Hannah-Rose Yee of Stylist called the ending "very sweet" and praised the score from John Williams, calling it "fantastic". Christopher Hooton of The Independent also praised the film, calling the film-within-a-film Angels with Filthy Souls "a fond footnote in cinema history".

They had investigated and learned that the McCallisters were going to be out of town, but were shocked to see Kevin still home. When they realize that he was actually home alone, they decide to rob the place anyways. Those words have been uttered to Bamman on more than a few occasions too. In fact, perhaps unsurprisingly, Bamman tells Den of Geek it’s usually the line most often quoted back to him by fans. He also says that, initially, the attention he got because of the Uncle Frank role was tough to deal with.
Kevin's mother wanted to get back home to her son so bad, she made a bargain with the devil in the airport. That is at least one interpretation of the scene where she met John Candy's Gus. Drewgarr mentioned on Reddit that Kate said she would "sell her would to the devil himself" to get back home to her son. One thing that the internet is known for is for being utterly filled to the brim with twisted and dark theories about our favourite childhood films. While 51 West 95th Street does exist in real-life, the actual filming location was Brownstone Street on the Universal Studios backlot in Los Angeles.
Another holiday season has come and gone, and like holiday seasons past we all happily watched Home Alone for the gazillionth time. If you're feeling withdrawal, though, consider watching The Movies That Made Us, a new Netflix original docuseries. It's spilling all the craziest behind-the-scene details about the film, like the fact that the entire production was almost canceled, or that Daniel Stern almost passed on his role. But quite possibly the most interesting fun fact of them all is that the entire McCallister house was actually built inside of a high school gym.
Peter and the rest of the family stay in his brother's apartment in Paris, while Kate manages to get a flight back to Scranton, Pennsylvania. She tries to find a flight to Chicago, but all the flights are booked. Kate is overheard by Gus Polinski, the lead member of a traveling polka band, who offers to let her travel with them to Chicago in a moving van. The McCallister family is preparing to spend Christmas in Paris, gathering at Kate and Peter's home in a Chicago suburb on the night before their departure.

Kate and Peter's youngest son, Kevin, is the subject of ridicule by his older siblings and cousins. Kevin inadvertently ruins the family dinner after a brief scuffle with his oldest brother Buzz, in which Kevin's airplane ticket is accidentally thrown away, resulting in Kate sending him up to the attic. Kevin berates his mother for allowing the rest of the family to pick on him and wishes that his family would disappear. During the night, heavy winds create a power outage, disabling the alarm clocks and causing the family to oversleep. In the confusion and rush to get to the airport, Kevin is accidentally left behind.
With fearing even Harry, dressed up as a cop, and the pizza delivery guy and having shown to have no friends outside their family, the McCalisters might just be a cult. He saved Kevin when he was about to be killed by Harry and Marv. He enabled him to come to friendly terms with his family, and much more, but all of this seems too good to be true. It is at that moment that Gus walks over and offers to help her get home.

In a deleted scene, he yanks his nephew’s pants down like a fucking bastard, so yeah, he’s a total monster, determined to humiliate Kevin however he can. Home Alone is one of the most famous Christmas movies of all time, earning over $426 million at a budget of $18 million. A fun little Christmas movie about a boy left home alone on a family vacation, making him face two small-time thugs, who attempt to break in and steal valuables from his house. 1990's Home Alone, written by John Hughes and directed by Chris Columbus, was one of the most popular Christmas films of all time.
